What about the Staff? Who are the coregraph and the dancers?

Can you tell us about the story or the themes that the ballet will display to the viewers?

Le ballet évoque le conte du héros, l'ascension de Paul au pouvoir. J'essaie aussi de faire des allusions aux thèmes politiques, philosophiques et écologiques explorés par le roman.

A sci-fi novel and the conduct of a classical art such as ballet does not seem at first glance to have easy connections; where does the idea of a Dune Ballet come from? How does it fit together?
Mélanger science-fiction et art traditionnel comme le ballet ne semble pas aller de soi, d'où vient cette idée et comment le rapprochement s'opère t'il?
--- Citation de: Katie Vaught ---Ballet has a long history of story telling. Many are familiar with Swan Lake (which you mention [in the next question]) and Don Quixote. The body is extremely expressive, shapes, forms, lights and costumes can express complex ideas as well as words can. The only difference is the medium being used. I chose a science fiction novel to fit with a festival's theme of space. It turned out to be excellent material for a story ballet. I'm only limited by my imagination. I hope to one day expand on the current version of the ballet.
Le ballet a toujours permis de raconter des histoires. Beaucoup connaissent 'Le Lac des Cygnes' (que vous mentionnez [NDLT: dans la question suivante]) ainsi que Don Quichotte. Le corps est très expressifs : des formes, des silhouettes, lumières et costumes permettent d'exprimer des idées complexes aussi bien que les mots. La seule différence est celle du médium. J'ai choisi une nouvelle de science-fiction pour satisfaire à un thème de festival sur l'espace. Il s'est avéré que c'était un matériel excellent pour un ballet. Je ne suis limitée que par mon imagination. J'espère pouvoir un jour étendre la version actuelle du ballet.

Is the preparation for a ballet that is based on a sci-fi book different than that of a traditional ballet such as Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake?
En quoi diffère la préparation d'un tel ballet par rapport à un plus traditionnel comme -disons- le Lac des Cygnes?
--- Citation de: Katie Vaught ---The preparation is slightly different for this ballet. Because I'm the first (that I know of) to take the story from written word to movement I had to do a lot of story boarding. When recreating a ballet that's already done the choreographer has a set score. I had to make choices about which scenes would tell the story best and what music could assist with that process. There was more to it's creation than just the choreography.
La préparation est quelque peu différente pour ce ballet. En effet, je suis la première (à ma connaissance) à transformer le texte en mouvement, et j'ai dû faire un travail important de préparation d'un storyboard. Lorsqu'il s'agit de recréer un ballet préexistant, le chorégraphe en possède déjà un. J'ai dû faire des choix : quelles scènes raconteraient l'histoire au mieux, et quelle musique pourrait venir en renfort. Il y avait bien plus dans cette création que la seule chorégraphie.
